The following documents are essential to the functioning of GPSS as a democratic body. Click on the links to the left to view any of these documents.
CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS
GPSS is governed by a constitution and bylaws. The Constitution establishes the GPSS and sets down high level rules of operation. Amending the Constitution requires the approval of 2/3rds of the GPSS. The Bylaws expound on the Constitution by setting out detailed rules of operation, but is subservant to the Constitution if they are in conflict. Amending the Bylaws requires the approval of a majority of the Senate.
LEGISLATIVE AGENDA
GPSS passes a legislative agenda every year, which the Vice President uses to lobby the state legislature on behalf of graduate and professional students.
RESOLUTIONS
Resolutions, which anyone can bring before the Senate, officially convey the sentiment of GPSS on a particular issue.
JUDICIAL OPINIONS
Judicial Opinions are the rulings of the Judicial Committee.
AGENDAS & MINUTES
Senate meetings are held once a month during the academic year. Agendas are distributed to senators a week prior to the meeting and minutes from the previous month are approved at every Senate meeting.
BUDGET
The annual budget is approved by GPSS in the spring.
