ASUW/GPSS Lobby Day (Sponsored by ATN!)
Nov 30, 1999 - 12:00 am
Come with ASUW, GPSS, and ATN to Olympia to make your voice heard.
February 15th- 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

“Only when students care enough to participate and speak up will we build the political support to remove more barriers to higher education.” – Representative Dave Upthegrove

This is your chance for students to go down to Olympia and have one on one discussions with legislators. Breakfast, lunch, t-shirts, and transportation to and from the capitol will be provided for you. Each student will have appointments set up with Representatives and Congressmen to talk about issues that are important to them, including tuition, financial aid, child care, health care, textbook prices, transportation, and anything else. The more people we bring down to Olympia, the more of an impact we can have during this important budget year. There will also be giveaways for participants and cash prizes for the club, living group, or RSO that brings the largest number of people. So please come, and bring a group of friends with you. We hope to see you in Olympia!

PIP Fellowship Opportunity
Nov 28, 2006 - 11:22 am
Dear Colleagues --

I am writing to announce the second year of a fellowship opportunity for UW doctoral students and to ask for your help in publicizing it. The Graduate School Fund for Excellence and Innovation (GSFEI) and the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (IAS) program at the University of Washington, Bothell are collaborating to offer a teaching fellowship for 4-6 doctoral students interested in the theory and practice of interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary pedagogy.

Fellows in the Project for Interdisciplinary Pedagogy (PIP) will work closely with faculty mentors in the IAS program, participate in a day-long workshop focused on interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary course design and pedagogy, teach one interdisciplinary course each quarter on the Bothell campus in an area related to their teaching and research interests, and engage in quarterly workshops with the other graduate students and faculty mentors in the cohort. Further teaching opportunities during the 2008-2009 academic year may also become available.

Fellows will be compensated at the appropriate annual Graduate Student Service Appointment rate, including tuition waivers, and will receive an additional stipend of $750 for their participation in the early fall and quarterly workshops. For more information about eligibility and application procedures, click on this link: http://www.uwb.edu/IAS/current/announcements/PIPFlyer2007-08.pdf. Or, feel free to contact the 2006-2007 co-directors of PIP: Becky Rosenberg (brosenberg@uwb.edu), Bruce Burgett (burgett@u.washington.edu), and Martha Groom (groom@u.washington.edu).

Sincerely,
