CRISIS/EMERGENCY RESOURCES

  • United Way
United Way of King County mobilizes our community in ways that no single agency, individual, or government can to enhance the ability of people to care for one another. We do this by: -Bringing the community together to address critical issues such as early learning and homelessness. -Investing in programs that provide the education, jobs, shelter, food and health people need to be successful. -Encouraging people to contribute money and time to improve the community.

  • Husky Pride Fund-ASUW Emergency Fund
The Husky Pride Fund is established by students to eliminate the financial barriers that prevent students from engaging campus and experiencing everything that the University of Washington has to offer. It will do so by providing financial support that: •Assists students affected by personal or family emergencies or crises •Helps students engage in the University Community by eliminating financial barriers •Provides scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students

  • Short Term Loan Program
The Office of Student Financial Aid has funds available for short-term loans to assist students with temporary cash flow problems. Funds are generally available within one to four working days, only to students who are currently attending the University (loans cannot be processed between quarters). Repayment is due by the next quarter, or whenever additional funds such as financial aid arrive on account, whichever comes first. There is no interest on the short-term loans, but there is a service charge added to the repayment amount. Students may apply on-line through MyUW's Personal Services (paper application forms are also available if you come to 105 Schmitz Hall but the processing time is longer). Please read all of the information carefully--borrowing a loan is an important responsibility. If you have any questions, feel free to talk to a counselor in the Office of Student Financial Aid, 105 Schmitz Hall, or call 206/543-6101.
